Standard Stopple Plugging Prochedure
Stopple plugging enables temporary isolation of pipeline sections without shutdown, allowing maintenance or modification activities to proceed safely.
1. System Installation
Initial setup includes:
- Installation of bypass split tees
- Installation of plugging tees
- Assembly of sandwich valves
- Installation of tapping machines for bypass connection
Hot tapping is performed on bypass lines to establish flow diversion.
2. Flow Diversion
- Bypass valves opened
- Pipeline content redirected through bypass system
- Main pipeline section safely isolated
This stage maintains uninterrupted operation of the system.
3. Plugging Operation
- Stopple cutter hot tapping performed
- Plugging machine installed on sandwich valve
- Plugging head inserted and sealing element engaged
- Pressure equalization completed
- Leak verification conducted prior to intervention work
The isolated section is now safe for repair, replacement, or modification.
4. Restoration Process
After work completion:
- Pipeline section refilled and pressure equalized
- Plugging head retracted
- Main line returned to active service
- Bypass system dismantled
- Blind flanges installed
Pipeline operation resumes under normal conditions without production shutdown.
